About ‘Razz’

Razan Takash is an award-winning Writer/Director/Producer from Jordan currently living in the UAE, with a production experience of over 10 years in the UAE and Middle East and is also Film Lecturer with practical and theoretical approaches in cinema studies. She is also a well-known YouTuber and movie reviewer.

Razan’s skills include writing, directing, and producing for television and film in a wide variety of projects, from intimate films and art house projects produced independently, local and regional series for television networks, to Hollywood blockbusters and franchises. Her production work includes producing and directing two seasons of children's TV shows for Majid Kids TV, working on the Maggie Diaries and Ma Lam Tara for MBC and she has been involved on the ground on the sets of Hollywood films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Zero Dark Thirty.

 

Razan holds a Masters in Fine Arts in directing from the Red Sea Institute for Cinematic Arts (RSICA) as part of a film MFA program under USC. She has been a Film Lecturer and Production trainer for 4 years teaching at multiple higher education institutes and serving as a Professor at the American University in Dubai and The American University in the Emirates. Currently she works full-time as a Senior Film Lecturer at SAE Dubai. She also headlines her own movie review channel “Razz Reviews” on YouTube.

In 2016, she wrote and directed the winning film "Shah Mat" which received the 1st place award at the 48hour Film Project Dubai, where she also received awards for "Best Director" and "Best Special Effects/Post -Production".

In 2020 she was nominated for the Mary Shelley Award at Other Worlds Austin film festival, which is awarded to the artist whose film best furthers the involvement and representation of women in genre filmmaking. Her latest short science fiction film "M1das" has found success in more than 24 international film festivals and has won 9 awards including Best Sci-fi short at Florence Film Awards and Berlin Movie Awards, Silver Award the Hollywood Gold Awards and Best Female Director at the Indie Filmmaker awards.
